In-School ABA Therapy

As dedicated practitioners in Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, ABA Centers of Georgia has partnered with many school districts that now benefit from having our Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and our BCBAs (Board Certified Behavior Analysts) working with school personnel and our shared students during class.

IMPORTANT: There is no cost to the school. Our RBTs and BCBAs are happy to serve as welcome support to teachers in the classroom for standard days, during school activities, and during difficult transitional times such as lunch and recess. And most importantly, these trained and certified ABA therapy professionals are experienced in working directly with children with autism.

In a Busy Classroom, ABA Makes Sense

While autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ABA have become more generally recognized, it is still rare to find a school set up for neurodiverse students. ABA Centers of Georgia offers certified ABA professionals in the school environment to help the children they work with outside of school remain focused, behave appropriately, and have meaningful interactions with teachers and classmates. The presence of an ABA therapist in school will not be invasive or distracting. Instead, ABA therapists can help establish a better functioning classroom so teachers can pay appropriate attention to the entire class.

ABA Therapists and School Safety Concerns

BCBAs and RBTs must pass rigid state certification tests for the profession. In addition, before they can be certified, they must pass an extensive background check for working with children. And, of course, all ABA Centers of Georgia clinicians working on school properties would be subject to the same vetting and insurance verification process as any school employee, fingerprinting included.

Certified ABA Therapists in Class Work Toward:

  • Fostering inclusion and integration
  • Improving academic and behavioral outcomes
  • Fulfilling student IEPs (Individualized Education Program)
  • Supporting teachers and classroom outcomes
  • Preparing students with ASD for independent living

How Does ABA Therapy Work in School Settings?

There is a reason ABA therapy has come to be known as the “gold standard” in autism care. Throughout the decades, there has been a significant body of research demonstrating the effectiveness of ABA therapy for students diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum. Since then, the autism rate has increased to 1-in-36 children (per the CDC), and there has been a growing demand for ABA therapy services partnering with education professionals.

As the only autism therapy covered and deemed medically necessary, major health insurers recognize ABA as one of the most effective treatments available. This acknowledgment is significant as the complex behaviors of some children with autism can disrupt learning in the classroom.

While schools have an IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) mandate to provide “free appropriate public education,” imagine if we elevate that and schools began providing students with autism with the additional tools necessary to excel in school and the community. ABA Centers of Georgia can work in concert with your teachers and administrators to provide that continuity of care while delivering life-changing therapeutic support for students with autism.
